Their Survivor

Those who have hurt me the most
Brought me the deepest
Most affecting and lingering pain
Have all died away
As their own pain is buried
So does mine fade.

That must make me
Their survivor.

I felt relief and something more, couldn't figure it out, but this explains it for me. Thanks for that! Finally figured how to follow you. New to the soup error on my part. Vickie Thayer

That's a lot of credit and compliment, thank You for that :) it didn't place for the contest but gotta love when the muse has her own way to such effect, and soup contests for stirring it up within.

Weird huh? When my abuser died it was an odd relief, a world without was an interesting thing. I suppose it lends more room for self defining. Yay to these awesome big brains thinking too much about everything! ;p xomo!

I like the way you worded this, dear. I have had some people who have hurt me deeply. Some have left the site. I know this feeling. Great write.

That is a little unsettling, that in a place like this, where you bare your soul through your poetry, that emotional predators prowl these waters... whaat? sharks hunting wet noodles in a bowl of soup!? ;) I hope you're healing lovely xomo

Such a deep and touching poem. One word comes to mind as I finish this...Karma. What goes around, comes around. Just keep being you my friend and all of the good things will find their way to you. Really nicely done, I like how this feels when read. It is something many will absorb.

Happy to have read this one! Thanks for commenting and showing me this way. I can really appreciate this advice and respect you. Not only for using line breaks to deliver its message rather than punctuation, but for the entire existence of this winning poem! Win or lose in contest this poem will remain to be a winner. Thanks a bunch!

Thank you! If I'm punctuating I'm all the way, but I love poetic's license that way. Can spend more time perfectly punctuating than composing some times. I'm particularly fond of semicolons ;)
