The Writer's Prayer

I like to think
that poetry
has intrinsic value
above and beyond
the actual craft…

That the origins
of poetry’s meter
and rhyme precede
each preliminary
draft…

That something, perhaps
even spiritual, transcends
the fore-and-aft…

And when the writer
thinks to scuttle
a work, as often
inherently we do,

always
may there be angels
floating him
a Literary-raft….

This is one of those poems that just seems to pertain to any of us. I enjoyed the subtle rhyme and the spiritual nature of the poem. Blessings. A Favorite Joe! Susan Maree

I like how you ponder poetry. I feel that when we write we are accessing a great reservoir of creativity. There are times that it feels like pieces write themselves and that I am merely an observer.

I know the feeling. When in spirit one feels omnipotent and connected to all. Thank you, Rick. Have a great day my friend!
