The Woman Disguised As My Mother

Listen to poem:
The Woman Disguised as my Mother David J Walker Mother never let us in on The secrets of the Bygone time When she might have Smiled (As if a child) Thinking about Someone We would Never know And never knew why She never told us so I remember the day at the lake Laying on the beach towel exposed to A hot summer sun We could splash and play and run And would someday come back again but never did Mother Never Tucked us in Or Mentioned dreams Or dreaming of Better things In the night
