Researching a cemetery can be lots of work but very informative and entertaining. The shape and material of the stone, its design, and the inscription are all clues to history. Use this outline as a guide.I love old cemeteries. Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, GA, was made famous in the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

THE WINTER CEMETERY Sentinels standing guard Lonely tombstones in a winter graveyard They stand, with icy stare Cold, slimy, green and bare Centuries standing there Forever frozen in time, rigid, hard 19 December 2017 For the Rhyme Me A Poem contest sponsored by Broken Wings For the new contest sponsored by Line Gauthier Original entry written on 19 December 2017 not judged until 2018

I like this very much-- it is something I've thought of when I visit a graveyard (not for anyone in particular, just to try to imagine the lives that were lead by how long they were on earth). Congrats on your win!

L. J., I appreciate your support. I visited the cemetery today at the church where I grew up. My parents, my brother, and my grandparents are buried there. I strolled through the cemetery and relived so many memories based on the names I saw, i.e., former Sunday School teachers, bus drivers from school, parents of school mates, etc. It made me realize that every name had an influence on me and my life.
