The Windmills of Babel

Build them wider, taller
let us reach for the sky

when we run out of bird's 
we'll clip angels on the fly

90,000 lb. sperm whale
wandering, searching for 
his misplaced tail...

but elite global outlets will 
never fail....only us commoners
stuck in the dark, our vehicles
needing, only one gear~ Park!

All of nature has an enemy…the birds have clean windows and windmills. What will life look like when we don’t have anything more to watch out for except glory after glory after glory! Amen!

Joe, this is a dynamo of a poem! As a people tho, i think we have gone beyond being shocked by Current Events to feeling wearied listening to it. That, according to experts indicates the downfalling of a civilization…what you said here, much better. xoxo sLly

Hi Sally; I hear ya. Not much I can do about any of it anymore, except blow a little sarcastic wind. I am too old to hold a sign and march, and doubt my vote is honestly tabulated -- after what I witnessed in the last two Arizona elections...the lies being told about Kari lake, an honest sincere woman trying to make positive changes...frankly voting for the lesser of the evils...playing the voting game no longer appeals to me. Blessings my friend. Hope you are healing.

Living in Crazy CA, our residents don’t understand this huge state cannot be run on windmills. They have birds in their brains.electric cars are nuts,we are out of electricity as it is. With the Road Runner for a President? Expect doom. 3 train accients a day in the USA.. Lack of food too Becoming a third world country fast Panagiota

Irony and humor make good bedfellows Joe. Undoubtedly the day will come when mankind, with the guise of "build it up. build it up, build it higher" will build huge monoliths higher than birds can fly. Whales losing their tails caught in fishing gear is so sad, and as for the cars, well I have had a few cars that only had one gear that worked (I will say no more). A FAVE for sure, Most thoughtful ECO message I have read on Soup. Well done Joe, Not sure why you named this but there is a song called Babel by Windmills that I really love. Co-incidence ?

Hi Wen; thank you for the FAVE -- so pleased you liked this one. Bottom line, I am not trying to put a class of innovators down, for seeking solutions to energy challenges -- just trying to clear up some thinking from my perspective. As far as the Windmills, I'm honestly not into modern music. I'm certain they are fine entertainers but I have never heard of them nor their songs. This is strictly a bible reference. When it comes to music, I am Classical and old school Jazz, Swing, Dixieland. I make noise (self taught) on my drum-set most every day. Blessings my friend.

When we build sky scrapers and set up wind mills, we brag that we have achieved progress, but never think that we are upsetting the eco system and endangering animal life. The same fate who built the Babel tower awaits us too. Farsighted and insightful writing, dear Joe !

Hi Valsa; true innovators would seek new solutions for energy demands. Use the rotation of the earth, for instance, to produce energy. Also, there is a thin shell above the earth where there is enormous electrical activity -- due to gravity. Gravity is/are not waves traveling across space/time, put little hands, so to speak, reaching up and out of space/time, grabbing space/time, thus pressing space/time into vibration particles. But what do I know. A poet and not a physicist. Just my home-spun speculations. None of what I just said is proven science to my knowledge. Joe.
