Notes About The Poem

The Weight of What Is Precious

There is not an ounce of hate
inside of her
between a breath and silence
her voice is a shade at noon
offered to the thirsty
strong to those
who heed not wise words
an angelic face, as if from the stars
rooted in an ancient place
her heart a deep seed
that today has bloomed
in a far away land
a long time ago, a man
riding a donkey
smiled
infinite wisdom
he knew
always and forever
there would be more than twelve

Loved this piece. The beginning speaks to me of those willing to stand for the right no matter what. The ending 7 lines took me in another direction. It's as though there are two thoughts sewn into one. Thank God there are more than 12. Blessings to you, dear.

A beautiful, evocative piece of tribute to immense grace—whose presence is as refreshing as wisdom, both infinite and ancient. The imagery of connecting spiritual or historical narratives, referencing humility and wisdom often associated with Jesus. Your words weave a timeless bridge between the celestial and that which is deeply rooted in the earth.  All hosts a lovely, rhythmic quality that I have found admirable. Thank you for your generous sharing. Aloha, William.

Arthur, no question it's a calculated genocide. The blast occurred on 3/21/25...less than a year ago. If the leadership of Israel had normal decency, they would have arranged for treatment for anyone who was there as a patient. Regardless of their reasons for the explosion, what they did or did not do afterwards reveals their intention.
