The Wayward Wind
There was a time when finding beauty
was as easy as a wisp of hair in a wayward wind
I was young full of stars in my eyes
and every street corner held candy and smiles
but then I grew up and my spritely steps slowed
for I was shrouded by clouds of gray
The green days of my youth were replaced by
muted colors and the innocence I once knew
loosed upon the shore. My hands ached from losses
I could ill ignore;
Once upon a time my family was whole
mom and dad were young and we all had our goals
Then one day I looked around and saw that the world
had lost its luster for me. I could no longer find a star
in the thicket of night, nor the sun at the cusp of day.
The wayward wind mistook me for a feather, and blew me
away....
