A siren from North Carolina Once suffered from chronic angina. Her dear beau found a cure Of endearing allure - He bought her a talkative mynah! His goddess he loved calling Venus, For "passionate love shared between us". When the vicar came by, The brash mynah let fly: "We're lucky the Priest hasn't seen us!"

I had put up my poem and then saw her rules again asking for two stanzas and then it dawned on me you HAD followed the rules. So I quickly tacked on the ending you can now see on my creature limerick. I hope it does ok. Not very bawdy or anything like yours!

Last time there was a limerick contest, 9 of the 10 winners were rather bawdy, haha!

It's Murphy's Law of Mynahs. Whenever the worst time for your secrets to be spilled, that's when the Mynah speaks up!

Just a little naughtiness but so much fun and perfect for a limerick! Birds, like children, can say the darndest things at the worst times! Great humor for this time of chaos. Good luck in the contest! I see your muse on the loose - glad she didn't "Fly Away!" How come no cookies?

I'm sure you remember the TV show, "Kids say the darndest things!" (I think that's the only time I've ever heard the word darndest used) I have been feeding my muse cookies and out come silly limericks... time to change her diet regimen to more healthy snacks!
Date: 4/20/2020 4:32:00 PM
what fun, john! your limericks are perfectly rhymed and rhythmed (is that a word?), but i'd expect no less from you. best of luck in the contest...

Thank you dear Ilene, I hope you enter as well? Let's just both agree that rhythmed is a word that's overdue in the dictionarials! Hope you are doing well in New York, the state of much sadness.

Oh, this is VERY good with that punch line. Even funnier would be if the bird had said, "your lover has arrived" (being the vicar himself. heehee)

My mind just didn't go there, but that would be a hilarious twist! That's the fun of limericks, you just never know where they are going to take people's minds! Thanks for the visit, my friend!

Thanks for the visit, Michelle. Mynah birds are the original Big Brother, you never know what secrets they are going to know about you and spill at the worst possible time!
