Ecclesiastes 2:1: "I said in my heart,
"Come now, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy yourself." But behold,
this also was vanity."
The Vanity of Pleasure
The vanity of pleasure, awaiting.
With the flavor and aroma of marbleize
Deep rich prime rib. Its charcoal grilled to tender,
Until it just melts in your mouth, a buttery pleasure,
With a glass of light red sweet fruity wine,
A true symphony of flavor, so rewarding.
The vanity of pleasure, of the body
From the lust of love. Stripped to fill the body
With warm relieving juices of the flesh.
Sexual feelings pour out with the entangle
Weaving of an embrace;
Relieve of momentary gratification.
The vanity of pleasure of money.
We cannot walk through life without it.
We need it to live. If we had all the money
In the world there is limitless possibility,
We can do and have that our heart desire.
But then, are our friends there out of respect,
Or only the enriching pleasure of your purse.
None of these things last forever or take it with you.
The soul's hunger can be filled with pleasure;
To live in this world with the enriching word of the Lord.
