For being "light verse" it sure seems serious and packs a punch. There does seem to be a lot of tribalism these days ... debate is good and healthy, but when it turns into ad hominems and mudslinging, that's when you know you gotta pull back and re-examine things. Pretty clever poem (I didn't get what the maple leaf was referring to until I scrolled down and found you were from Cananda ... I think I see it now).

Yeah, I went back to the beginning with this one. Our world is ripe for re-examination. I say "our" and not "the" world, as only us self absorbed humans believe we are the world. Pardon my present state of disgust, I'm actually an optimist in nature. xomo

We are just one maple leaf away from being savages. We must be our best! When my son went to Russia for wrestling, I told him he was a representative of his God, family and country. So we should be in our own country. Blessings, sweet poet!

My son was a 4 time state champion and an all-american winner. He has his sons wrestling now. My son was famous for this one move that could quickly take out the opposition. LOL. I love watching his patience with the kids. Your honey sounds fascinating!

Still have a long way to go we do. I believe in my community we have the largest Inuit population in the comparative south. I have met some truly lovely people. Poetry hugs! xomo

Funny how shock wears off eh? This inspired by a wonderful speaker on CBC Radio yesterday, talking about how "communities" gather and "camps" divide. Asked my honey to run and fetch me my notebook while in the tub, had to get this one down, and out ;), Hugs, xomo
