The Trophy You Seek

I am to old to worry about words that have been told I do not care about a contest you share For poetry is a gift you share Not who wins and who shares You are blind and cannot see this trophy lies in you All you can see is a win for me A trophy that no one will see but me A golden star upon your name It’s all a game For the real trophy you seek Is in you You and your poetry That's in you

Bobby, the lovely comments you give make me feel better than a trophy win. It's that connection in thought that makes me wish to write. The contests just provide inspiration sometimes. There is too much emphasis on winning. Your words here are thought-provoking and help us remember why we write. Hugs, Carolyn

Carolyn, you have no clue of the words you say they touch me deep within, you are a true poet when you speak to me within!
