The Tree In Front of My Home

They cut down the tree in front of my home Without its cool shade the grass wilts on the lawn Nesting place of squirrels and birds went the way of the world... My world awakes to an empty dawn comfort, delight ~ forever gone

How sad; I despise it when a tree is gone.

Me too. You'd think the city would consult with people before they take down trees. Oh, well...

Oh, I hate this for you, gw. Nothing saddens me more than a beautiful tree destroyed. They've cut a magnificent tree at the end of my street for no apparent tree. We have a few blooming magnolias around here, so I grieved the loss of this one.

Nothing sadder than to see a tree chopped down for no good reason, is there? :) gw

Such sadness to lose a tree, a harbor for much of nature. I love my trees. A tree service, who serviced next door, came to evaluate our trees. She wanted to knock down several. I sent her nonsense away. My trees, the birds, the squirrels, even the nuts thank me….lol!

Unfortunately for me, my tree was on the parkway (between the sidewalk and the street). So, the City of Chicago can do what it wants... Glad to hear that you are 'no-nonsense' about trees, birds, squirrels...

A tree makes all the difference! I agree with Vickey; plant one/some. When a subdivision kind of thing constructed an eight foot wood fence across my view, I planted 10 silver birches. It only took a year or so before they started to refresh everything. They're so beautiful Eliz.

That seems to be the way of the world today, sadly, Gershon. That was very well put; thank you.
