The Towns Children
It was the 24th of December and all I can remember
Were we glissade in the snow on a sled before bed
With the tree draped with candy and light’s a glow
We all sat around watching a Christmas show
In a town of 3,000 everyone knew our stockings would be bare
We never cared for the love we had brought us cheer each year
We would drink our hot coco watching the snow and know
Having love was more important then any Christmas shows
All tucked into our beds whispering low
Do you think Santa will show this year?
No my brother said, he wouldn’t be able to make it now go to bed
With tiny tears running down my face I closed my eyes and prayed
God please help my family for presents I do not need
I awoke the next morning hearing my brothers screaming loud
Santa!, Santa, Santa has been here
There were over 200 presents placed by our door
The town’s children gave us each one of theirs
A year I will never forget the year my heart was filled with love
I still remember this each and every year
The day the towns children gave us Christmas Cheer
