The Thousand-Mile Walker
The Thousand-Mile Walker
He traveled a thousand miles
Under the heat of summer,
Through heavy rain showers,
Hail, and the snow of winter.
Brave walker moved forward!
Beyond the horizon lay the goal.
Thunderstorms shook the soul.
Shirts, pants, riddled with holes.
His feet ruined the boot’s sole.
Bleeding could not stop his toll.
Brave walker moved forward!
Then, he encountered the ocean.
He gazed out with no emotion.
The empty beach, the furious waves
Challenged the brave…
He saw the goal through the sunray
Realizing that the end was far away.
He decided to move on his own way,
Far, far in sight… yet close in mind…
