The Test of Time
I stood the test of time to see if you were really mine
I stood the test of time because I know that victory was mine
I have suffered from intense heat and there times when I had to sleep on the cold concrete with insect crawling all over my skin and the universe watching from within, but hope kept me alive when the decree was made for me to die, I worked day and night on empty stomach and gas protruding out of my gut but with faith and courage in my hand my determination kept riding on.
I see you standing there acting as if you don’t care, a minute ago you
were sitting in the high chair but all of a sudden you were not there. I searched for you everywhere but you were hiding between the temple and the wall and the statue above made you look tall and the people that you know had to seek refuge in the deep, they moved from cave to cave until they broke through the gate; what on earth had gone wrong when are we going to sing that unified song?
I have waited for more than a decade but the weather
Keep changing and the temperature keeps rising
And you keep telling me that I am not going anywhere soon
I still don’t understand what you mean; I thought it was only a dream
But you keep repeating it every day and I watched the
Years slip slowly away and the agony began to grow.
You watch me working in the dirt and the heavens above touching my skirts, sometimes my eyes grow dim and I can barely see the shadows
dancing in the ceiling as if the ghost of Canterbury had arrived with a message from the skies. It took some time to figure things out but destiny was walking slowly about with a pistol underneath its sleeve and an assignment to complete.
The test of time has watched me grow thin, the test of time has brought me into the show, the test of time has feed my mind, the test of time has created a destiny that is divine. Sweat is pouring from my face and the army is waiting by the gate.
I watch you come and go, leaving me to run my own show
Your promises were never true and you walked away before your wishes came through, but I have stood the test of time.
