Its been a hard winter but spring can't be far behind
Vital fluids slowly drip
into the bucket below.
Caught in
black and white landscape
of trees, snow and shadow
in the early dawn.
our breath forms clouds
but breathing in
we smell woodsmoke
and new maple syrup.
Surely the sweetest
sign of spring.

Thanks Suzanne. It's not quite the season for maple syrup, although it's always good on pancakes and ice cream. But seems to be an element of randomness to the Soup's featuring poems.
