The Sunken Cathedral

A tomb
So chill so deathly still
Where algaed bells hang dumb

Diffus'd
Her warted weaving spire
In eerie midnight sun

A womb
Come bubble bubble down
In gloom the vaulted way

To see
Through brackish ripple glass
By jaded light of day

Profound
Black iron gargoyle's heads
Resounding deathless ringing

To hear
The swaying sunken choir
Of chancel ghosts go singing

"TE DEUM
(eummm) LAUDAMUS
TE DEUM (eumm - eumm)

TE DEUM
(eummm) LAUDAMUS
TE DEUM (eumm - eumm)

Daver, how does this "first round" thing work? I know I have three poems in the big Soup contest but when do I find out if any of them have passed into the semi finals? When will they be judged? did you ever win in this Soup contest? Like in a top ten or something? this poem creates great atmosphere! An eerie one. about the terza rima, I just made that stuff up. In my dreams, they would be a happily married couple by now! Luv, andrea

Daver, such a lovely poem, Visual and Audible. Jaded light of day. We get tired sometimes..not only us who are jaded. Algaed bells? I go to hear them at Bosque Bello Cemetery today to sit with my father, my husband, my two brothers. Be with them on this Holy Saturday - Be with my thoughts. Love, love

Really enjoy this one, Daver. I like the way you've spaced it out and the subject matter is very original ... have you seen such a place? Very well-deserved selection to be a feature this week here at the Soup. Congratulations!
