The Squirrel Thief

cagey conniver, thief, swift of foot, sleigh of paws, meticulously watching, grabbing more than your share sleuthful detection, watching me put the feed into the birdfeeder, knowing you are there, but not seeing your keen eyes Your fluffy tail would give you away but you are wily. It is tucked way up high so I cannot see it. I feel you there, but have no proof When I go back into the house you empty the feeder with your greedy, grubby paws. Why not? You have already eaten all of my walnuts!

Squirrels are little thieves, have not really got any in our neck of the woods but in the park there are many. The problem in the Eastern and Cape Town areas of South Africa are monkeys, in fact they have become a real pest. Hugs and blessing Caren, Jennifer.

My dad spent days devising new ways to try to keep squirrels out of the bird feeders. It amused my mother greatly.

My deer bash the feeders against the tree trunk and eat the birdseed off the ground too. They have bashed three feeders to death this month.

One year, when we were baking a batch of Christmas cookies, we put a pan on the porch to cool, and a squirrel stole one of them right in front of me! (My hubby would not believe me, but it's true!)

I know that's right! My dad's squirrels used to rap their paws on the window to tell him they were out of birdfood. My dad was on the other side, glaring at them.
