The Squirrel Thief
cagey conniver, thief,
swift of foot, sleigh of paws,
meticulously watching, grabbing
more than your share
sleuthful detection,
watching me put the feed
into the birdfeeder, knowing you are there,
but not seeing your keen eyes
Your fluffy tail would give you away
but you are wily. It is tucked way up high
so I cannot see it. I feel you there, but have no proof
When I go back into the house you
empty the feeder with your greedy, grubby
paws. Why not? You have already eaten
all of my walnuts!
