The Songbird
The Songbird
You were the songbird Karen, even through your pain.
Rainy days and Mondays, were never quite the same.
Somewhere in your lifetime these were days you knew,
feeling things not certain, feeling low and blue.
You said these were the kinds of times that always “get you down.”
Rainy days and Mondays just don’t need to come around.
It would be great if you had lived, to see the sun come out.
At 32 you slightly knew what joy was all about.
We hope that life is not just filled with grayness, loss and gloom.
Yet as years pass still in our minds we hear your mournful tune.
You were the songbird Karen, with your soft, melodic voice.
But when it comes to sadder times, we often have no choice.
