The Sky Lark

Not in winter’s dark will you hear the lark. But when summer comes along, gloom and grief, be gone! In the early dawn, listen for the sky lark’s song. Straight up from the ground, soaring heaven-bound, this plain creature shows his worth. Always while winging, the lark is singing - even plummeting to earth! For the The Alouetee Poetry Contest of Dr. Ram Mehta

I like the exclamation marks in this poem. It adds an extra zing and a sense of immediacy and action, especially at the end.

Lyrical is the word that came to mind immediately for this piece Andrea, like the song of a sky lark. Well done and good luck in the contest! David

I know for a fact that I read this poem before and I commented on it. Did it not come through to you? I even asked about what a sky lark is, bc I didn't know! Wow. I am starting to get worried bc I am finding a lot of my comments come up missing from, not just your poem here, but other poet's stuff too. What is going on. I hope my computer is ok, Have you ever had this problem before on the soup?
