The Simple Child

Such a sc-ar-ab, This pro-ver-ub, Made to be seen, A child not heard, Watch a child at play, Listen to what they say, T’s the good book’s discern, By which we learn, The faith we say, If mind doth sway, In flesh we pay, For what we say, As time doth align, Against the mind, And it surely will, As time fulfilled, Better to leave mouth shut, Even if burst a gut, Better to be thought dumb, As the lamb, Than to open mouth, Removing all doubt, Out of the mouth of babes, Grows perfect praise, In wisdom’s ways, Love’s power okays, As wisdom pays, In simple ways, As simple child, Grows out of wild, Complexity of wilderness mind, By simple child defined, Doth not align, Simple love’s kind, For how can a machine, so complicated, By power so simple, be operated, God is simple power, The complication in what he made, Doth not swayed, Simple power that made, At the hub of every wheel, Lain the power of will, Love doth not spoil, nor spill, A simple child at the wheel, May we all clutch, As such!! 8-9-09 johnmosesfreeman@yahoo.com Dedicated to "Leanne Christian", a worthy young fellow Poet, of our Poetry Soup family!!!

Great write in great rhyming. Yes, the truth is quite simple. I think man makes it complicated, trying to verybalize His revelations. So He made it simple, by giving us 2 commandments, encapsulating the Universal Principles. Thanks for sharing and thank you for your wise comments on my poem. God bless, my friend. Love, Caroline.

I really like this John. The simple child: straightforard, not hiding, instantly forgiving, accepting as true without doubt the things they are taught, full of joy and happiness, easily forgetting ill treatment, and more. No wonder Jesus asked us to follow Him and to be as the child when it comes to our faith. Very nice message in this poem. \ Lovingly, Dane (Soupmail, soon.)

There's so much wisdom in this write. Children listen to everyone around them and form their personalities based on what they hear and how they are treated. "Even if burst a gut," we should convey our messages lovingly, even in cases where we need to address something unpleasant. They hold our future and I hope all parents read this awesome write, Moses! Love you, Carolyn
