When I first saw it sitting there, it was a sad and lonely square. A circle rolled up high to make a moon, and a triangle played a lively tune. This is just the happenstance that made the first square dance.

I liked your imagery with shapes here, David. I learned square dancing at my high school. It was an all-girls activity to balance b-ball which the boys enjoyed. (no girls' team). They ruled the gym so we were relegated to study hall which was large enough if you moved the tables to the walls. Congrats!

Thanks Reason! I remember when we did square dance in school. It was mixed boys and girls, but the girls seemed to like it more. I just wrote a poem yesterday starring the circle and the triangle called "A Night on the Square".

Having performed a lot of square-dancing as a kid (don't ask), I relate. :)

BTW, I just wrote a very bad poem, called "dancing lessons" which mentions square dancing. Also, I wrote a poem called "strange square dance". I have no idea why I keep writing poems about square dancing when I have virtually no experience of it - maybe i have some kind of mental illness.

I square danced once or twice in 4th grade. I liked it, though dancing with girls made me a bit nervous. I've never tried it since, but it always seems like it would be fun. Hmm, you got my curiosity up about your experience - lol.
