The Shadow Box

The Shadow Box Written: by Tom Wright 11/27/2015 This represents Joe’s four tours in Vietnam, With profundity, I gaze with swollen pride. I affix no value to this remnant from his life, But soul search for answers while ideas collide. Missing After Action for 30 years Joe’s name isn’t inscribed on the moving wall, Nor does a granite headstone note his spot. Yet I numbered Joe D. among the living dead, A treasured memory that time couldn’t blot. Today, Joe’s ashes rest somewhere in a field alone, Obeying each zephyr that may occur each day; Soon destined to become as a forgotten stone, For in death, as in life, Joe did things his way. Joe passed leaving family with a myriad of unanswered questions That only God now holds the answers to. Tom
