The Sea-Man's Return

Swept away
the last colour
of sunset,
Ocean in his eyes,
winds and waves
the sea-man loved.

Forever gone
the late-song
of night birds,
crushed corals,
sand and rocks
the sea-man loved.

Blown afar
the harvest seeds,
Flowers in his heart,
Petals in bloom,
Pale-pink blossoms
the sea-man loved.

Found and lost
the light of stars,
Alone He sailed
through narrow paths,
to mountain'shadows
the sea-man loved.

In hope to smell
the scent of her hair,
In hope to wipe
rain off her lips,
In hope to taste
her roasting- chestnuts,

to mend regrets
with just one kiss.

Charmaine, So nice to find this poem this fine evening. I read all the comments from your well wishing poet friends. Your poem reminded, how I miss the solitary life of the Sea. I recall days of angry crested waves, spray of foam, the deep grey troughs of a sea state 7, often made the horizon disappear, seeming to swallow our little ship. Thanks for reminding me. -Richard

a familar theme of yours but in a very different way, seeing it as the things the sea-man loves. I just saw a mermaid contest and was thinking when I clicked on this, maybe it's a mer-man!!Anyway, you always write so charmingly. No wonder your name is Charma. Thanks for your sweet words at my poems, my friend.

A poetic write that has romance slathered all over it and through it also. "In hope to smell the scent of her hair, In hope to wipe rain off her lips, In hope to taste her roasting- chestnuts," - WOW!
