The Round Table On This Side of the Freeway

"THE ROUND TABLE ON THIS SIDE OF THE FREEWAY"

I sit here at this
round table in jeans,
my white shirt and
boots.
writing to keep the
demons at bay.
same old song at 33.
life...
some say the greatest
thing God gave us.
these few haven't been
eaten away by love,
decision or good intention.
with a brain unlike
the masses,
I drink this beer,
smoke these cigarettes
and record the word
without hesitation.
here at this round table
on this side of the freeway,
everything repeats.
stay the night and watch
the show.
