The Road To The Beginning

WITH MY MASK ON AND MY ARMOR TUCKED TIGHT MY MOM OUTSIDE, NO LONGER A PART OF MY FIGHT I WALKED IN THE DOOR, SMILE IN TACT "HI, MY NAME IS SHAUN" STILL PLAYING MY ACT THE FIRST GROUP WE HAD, I FELT SO ALONE SHAKING WITH FEAR, JUST MY SMILE WAS SHOWN HOW LONG COULD I HIDE ALL OF THIS PAIN ON THE OUTSIDE IT'S SUNNY, ON THE INSIDE IT'S RAIN ONE BY ONE THEY PICKED ME APART EMOTIONS RAN HIGH, TEARS FELL WAS MY START LEFT STANDING WET EYED, ARMOR AT MY FEET HOW COULD I FEEL SO GOOD, WHEN SHAUN HAD BEEN BEAT I WOULD SOON FIND OUT, HOW MANY WERE PROUD WHEN THEY ALL STARTED CLAPPING, MAN IT WAS LOUD WHY WAS I HIDING? THE ONLY ONE HURTING WAS ME TWELVE YEAR OLD SHAUN DIDNT WANT YOU TO SEE THE PAIN HE WAS FEELING FOR SO LONG NOW EXPOSED A NEW SHAUN EMERGED FROM MY HEAD TO MY TOES IM HEARING THINGS WITH BRAND NEW EARS FEELINGS I HAVENT FELT IN SO MANY YEARS IM SEEING THINGS WITH BRAND NEW EYES A LITTLE BOY COMING FROM BEHIND A SMILE OF LIES NOW A MAN EQUIPPED WITH NEW TOOLS THANKS TO WILSON HALL AND ITS FEW SIMPLE RULES THANKS TO EVERY BROTHER IN BETWEEN THESE WALLS AND THE TREATMENT TEAM FOR GOING BEYOND WHAT DUTY CALLS WHAT CAN BE LEARNED FROM THIS STORY I TELL TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME AND ALL WILL BE WELL
