The Rainy Season

The thunder booms; the rain pours down. The sky is steely gray; But in the rainy season, well, There's nothing more to say. The beaches are deserted so My bathing suit's unworn. The souvenir shop vendors all Look bored and quite forlorn. I'm here to visit relatives So I don't really care But to tourists on vacation All this rain does not seem fair. Still, in nature everything, of course, Has got to have a reason. Thus, to balance out the sunshine There must be a rainy season.

Being married to a gardener meant we could never holiday until October or November Ilene. Hence my memories are of deserted caravan parks in Spain and Italy. Swimming in the camp pool during a thunderstorm. C'est la vie. I love rhyming poems. This is a good one.

You have been reading my mind, at least the first two stanzas appear that way. We have had more rain this spring than I can remember, but it does help the flowers grow and soon enough the summer sun will blaze and everything will turn brown. Nicely done Ilene

The tourists might be unhappy with the weather but there are many other things to do.

Your poem really made me smile as it sure is the rainy season here too - we have about 40,000 bikers on the Island at the moment for TT and have had torrential rain and wind but guess what ... they are still loving it here!:-) hope you enjoy your vacation:-) hugs Jan xx
