The Rain Came
Once, I had a reverie that I lived in an emerald lush valley,
Deep and opulent with tangled branches and a flowing stream;
My home was a cabin with planks azure blue painted so brightly,
The rain came unexpectedly and swiftly and beautiful in my dream;
And the birds called with a frenzied fear and with a terrifying scream.
I heard the thunder rumble in the distance, reverberating,
Soothing raindrops dripping in a delightful and melodious tempo;
Then the wind and rain were suddenly hitting my cabin, hammering,
Water flooded the stream and rain fell quickly into the valley also;
My home began to tremble as the deluge cascaded into my window.
I was lost in roaring waves struggling to hold onto something solid,
My blue door drifted by and I grasped onto it as I flowed away;
I heard a familiar meow and my calico cat climbed aboard with a thud,
We swirled with the rising water, twirling and spinning and whirling;
Above and down the other side of the valley we glided- two castaways.
