I heard the thunder rumble in the distance, reverberating, Soothing raindrops dripping in a delightful and melodious tempo; Then the wind and rain were suddenly hitting my cabin, hammering, Water flooded the stream and rain fell quickly into the valley also; My home began to tremble as the deluge cascaded into my window. I was lost in roaring waves struggling to hold onto something solid, My blue door drifted by and I grasped onto it as I flowed away; I heard a familiar meow and my calico cat climbed aboard with a thud, We swirled with the rising water, twirling and spinning and whirling; Above and down the other side of the valley we glided- two castaways. _____________________________ January 23, 2015 Poetry/Verse/The Rain Came Copyright Protected, ID 01-635-375-23 All Rights Reserved, 2015, Constance La France Submitted to the Standard contest, 100 In A Row --9 sponsor, PD, Judged 02/2015 First Place
