Written: October 30, 2023 ________________________________________ Measure the stretch, treasure time, Measure the hilltops that we climb, Measure the oceans, vast and wide, Measure the dreams we hold inside. Measure the value of shiny gold, Measure the stories that were never told, Measure the laughter and tears, Measure positive things and  fears Measure your physical health and mind. Measure the affection and optimism to find. Measure the moments that bear our breath away, Measure the lessons learned along the way. But amidst all the quantifying, There's something we often overlook, denying. For in our quest to measure all, We forget to answer the fundamental call. Why do we measure, day after day? What purpose does it truly convey? Is it merely to compare and compete, Or is there something deeper we defeat? The answers lie not in numbers and charts, But in the whispers of our beating hearts. For meaning cannot be measured or weighed, It's a journey that cannot be easily portrayed. Measure time as it slips over our fingers as sand, Measure value in time that makes our souls expand. Measure health by the strength of our spirit, Measure life by the love we freely devote to it.

Dear Sotto, your poems somehow in some way resonate to many aspects of life! So philosophical and the way you question and deliver such wisdom is so very captivating and as i read these lines “ The answers lie not in numbers and charts, But in the whispers of our beating hearts.” i couldnt help but think of how everything these days depend on numbers and how so many compete. I have a poem i once wrote , which starts with “ the moon never competes with the sun” so why must we? Love this poem

I liked this poem. It held a good strategy of comparison and conflict. I like the style.

dearest Sotto--I found skillfully crafted words profound and wise. The rhyme scheme flowed and washed over me as I read and pondered each line. Certainly your poem is thought provoking. I agree with you, I don't find meaning in all the quantifying. I actually find it a tad irritating. Much more of an instinctive, intuitive kind of gal. Your last verse, therefore, resonated with me--expanding our souls, strengthening our spirit, and the love we devote to life itself. That's immeasurabe.Faving!
