The Power of Words

Give me words to adorn myself Like ornaments between my hands Ephemeral, trivial Yet the jewels of words are eternal Give them to me to illuminate my way Without them this eye can not see The hidden soul Or ever feel it change Without them my soul will turn to stone Give them to me to illuminate things That can't be seen That can't be pronounced Hidden objects Limitless Invisible Unimaginable That can't be explained away Things that Remain in oneself Asleep in the heart Stable in the mind Stuck in the throat Things that blind the eyes Extraordinary, mysterious things That we feel but don't see Bless me with their light The glimmerings to write What was hidden by air What was concealed in an echo What was revealed to the self Yet remained hidden from the other
