The Poet's Lullaby
Sleepless nights were made for poets
We write when we can't sleep
Emptying our souls with pen and paper
From heartache buried so deep
Haunted souls keep us awake
'Til late into the night
Our inner demons hold us captive
But freed by the words we write
Bound by thoughts our lips can't speak
Our pens, our only release
We write our pain in black and white
The colors that bring us peace
Silence fills the poet's heart
As our minds are filled with doubt
Held hostage to our agony
'Til our words come tumbling out
Finding the reason for all our pain
Our words begin to weep
Only then can the poet rest
And finally go to sleep
