The Poet's Fear of Criticism

He said he'd written
Some great poetry;
But wasn't going
To show it to me.

It is like sending a defenceless child out into the world. Dropping by to wish you a Merry Christmas. I enjoyed reading this one.

Hi Alex.. first time stopping by your poems, and you have nothing to fear, so continue to show them to us ;) Seriously though this sums up our poetry passion in a nutshell. We write and write and write, and then are hesitant to show others-- for me, not so much a fear of criticism but of opening up your soul to others. rect remedy for starting up that confidence level-- constructive advice. Next stage-- to put my next bunch of poems into a publication-- now that is brave :)

He probably doesn't have a copyright. Short write, but a good one.

Wow Alex! You dredge up memories many poets would acknowledge having - that first moment you gave someone a poem you've written wondering if it is worth it. But fortunately once that first hurdle is passed it gradually becomes easier.
