'The Perfume Bottle' Contest ~ September 11, 2025

The perfume bottle, Baccarat,
for the fragrance of hyacinth and myrrh.
The message it delivers; "Forget me not."

He'd searched for an antique flacon,
one exquisitely of elegant crystal.
Gift presented and ribbon untied.
At first glimpse of it, she smiled
as sunlight glinted from its prisms.

She opened the vial.
The scent as not overwhelmingly sweet,
as a velvet petaled rose.
But one that could never impose
on the natural aroma of her essence.
A dab on each wrist, he could not resist.

A perfume bottle to house the redolence,
chosen for the one he adored.
A keepsake she would treasure
the measure of their love ~
unperceivable.

"The Perfume Bottle" is a lovely write with a pretty/great picture. The bottles were loved as much or more than the perfume inside. I sure wish I had my old ones but all gone. "Good Luck" Have a lovely day writing away................

Lin whenever I see a poem like this, I remember the slogan...."Promise her anything, but give her Arpege." Your poem is very sweet for sure...but not too sweet. You could have been a spokesperson for Lanvin. I looked this up...The fragrance was named after the musical term "arpeggio" (arpege in French) because Jeanne Lanvin's daughter was a violinist, and the bottle's design features a silhouette of a mother and child...Anyway you do wonders with words like a genie in a bottle of perfume!!!
