The Passion of Poetry

"The Passion of Poetry"
by: Eric L. Boddie

The power to express every emotion that is you
Here and now, this is Love, the only essence that is always true
Enchanted by devotion, no matter what we go through
Passion beyond lust ordained for just two
Affection produced by lips from the embrace they pursue
Satisfaction through seduction, that's the obvious clue
So tempting, so captivating as well as mesmerizing too
Inspiring minds to touch bodies in more ways than a few
Only to show that Love is not a bolt, it needs more than a screw
Now, if that is hard to understand, all I can say is "if only you knew"
Of all of Life's experiences, falling in Love is the greatest you can do
For it never appears old, it can only be fresh and new
Pleasure to the mind, body and Soul is its only revenue
Often we ask for more, but if we put the foot in the other shoe
Eventually, we would understand that the effort alone is the glue
That bonds the hearts of Love's faithful crew
Relating the ship at the strength of each virtue
Yielding true Love, the only power strong enough to tame the shrew

Monorhyme can be very difficult to write with but you've used it beautifully here... A lovely and heartfelt poem, Eric!

You seem to favor these monorhymes, Eric, and you do well with them. The beat reminds me of rap which is very popular among the youth...maybe you can record and send a sample to those studios one day. :-)

This is so true. Without effort love dies, sometimes a slow death. Great presentation Eric. #7
