The Part-Time Poet
The part-time poet chose a summer day
to search for inspiration at the park.
Distracted by the children's joyful play,
she sat and stared--mind empty, mood so dark.
She said, "The forest is the place I'll find
enchanting scenes to motivate my pen,"
but woodland creatures' noises filled her mind.
Her muse then fled, and she could not begin.
Perhaps some time with family and friends
would help her find imagination's key.
Oh, no! She finds their lively chatter tends
to chase away her creativity!
She sits alone and queries, "Why--oh, why--
can't I create a poem that mirrors me
and all the wonders that within me lie?"
A part-time poet she will always be!
