The Pale Moon Emerged From Dark Clouds

The pale moon emerged from dark clouds, but I cared not for its light or beauty it showed. Grief overwhelmed me, yet I could not cry though deep in my soul, my tears overflowed. Oh Moon heretofore whose soft face was veiled: Like me – had you been enshrouded by gloom? I see over darkness you have prevailed, yet here I still stand consumed by my doom. My doom is in knowing true love has fled. Beside my dear’s grave, I’ve no words to say. With dark clouds I will be until I’m dead. Unlike you, pale Moon, I wither away. July 21, 2022 For Joseph May's One In Five 2 Poetry Contest Used line #4 for inspiration: the pale moon emerged from dark clouds

I think I looked at this contest but can't remember the pictures. I think that it will be a good contender though. Way to go. It is emotive and ends with a very sad note. Your visit to my page was a treat to end my day. Sara

Well this is more gloomy Andrea.. I liked the Joy one better ' there are lots of other Comments below there, you are quite the Popular poet I see..' you must be doing Something write..Er I mean right..' The opposite Of Left..If you follow me? It's all academic they Say, either that or it's very realistic.. Or very Typical of the culture..What a joke the people Who say that want to obliterate culture well Individual cultures..' Anyway as always blessings.'

Sad yet beautiful showing the emotions of a lost love... you used the line excellently Ria... Am amazed how easily you excel in all the forms, specially the ones with rhymes,... which I struggle to do... Lol... Best wishes and hugs... ~ Ani

The poetic mind emerged in this piece very well. Metaphores were not hard to find and the feeling of gloom prevails as it should. Good luck in the contest.

such a limn as this takes us deep within and the path you draw is so well worn and known, loss is never an easy mountain to climb....loved this...my mother would say, mourn a day and return to the plow, life is about the living and came to understand in Robert Service's poem the Mourners...God pity them, the women-folk who mourn! How happy are the dead!

We cannot see light nor beauty when in the grips of grief. The moon still shines as you whither away, in other words life goes on but you can’t participate. Love it! Well done, sweet friend! ~ Kim

Sad but magnificent the way you juggle with emotions. Can't see this fail in the contest. Love how you use the moon. Hugs.
