The Other Side Of Dreams

Oh, for Summer days of youth On beaches cradled by the sea Where thoughts on salted air ignite The flames of what may come to be Now, on the other side of dreams What has or not yet has come true I contemplate and miss those days Thought grateful that they had their due My wisdom, now a welcome friend To filter endless aching pains For peace and love to find a home As time, like sand, now shifts and wanes

The summer days of youth have been so pleasant and boisterous. We often grow nostalgic of them. But as years glide by and as we enter the autumn or winter of life, we garner greater experience and greater wisdom which also is so enriching. Beautiful and meaningful poem dear Mike !

This is damn good. There is a certain optimism that accompanies spending time by the Sea. I met my wife in Puerto Vallarta 31 years ago. The ignition from that salt air has never wained.

I agree with what Silent One said...I love the blending of the nostalgic, carefree days of youth with the sometimes painful days filled with wisdom. Aches and pains are definitely one of the challenges of getting older. I can related. Lovely in every way, Mike. Am faving...have a pleasant evening, Sara

Hey Mike.. Your poem captures the wistful nostalgia for the carefree days of youth, contrasted with the wisdom gained through the passage of time... Loved the title also.. All the best..
