The Other Holmes

Dear Doyle, Why have you not incorporated me further into your work? When I found out I appeared briefly, in just three stories, I was hurt. You made me smarter than Sherlock himself, but, alas, you did not find me worth the ink. And no, my dear friend, no simple explanation will suffice. We are both men Arthur, let's not beat around the bush like mice You'll meet me tonight, eight o'clock sharp at the Reigate Squires. Do not send a wire or put it off a moment further. This business is dire! Sincerely, The Other Holmes NOTE: For those who aren't familiar with the stories, Sherlock Holmes actually has a brother. His name is Mycroft Holmes (and Doyle actually made him much smarter than Sherlock... though Mycroft was too lazy to put his talents to good use). He was a very interesting character and I was sad to see him in so few stories...

Quite creative, Timothy! Considering you also failed to incorporate Ignatius & Conan in your strong letter to Mr Doyle, I presume you are both square now :) Regards // paul

I'm a BIG fan of the series (read each and every story as well as both movies). It was fun to write in the Doyle-esque style of writing :)

WOW! Thanks for educating me! This will give me something to drill my Canadian sister-in-law with! She is gung ho on Sherlock Holmes! See....I don't go for crime and Agatha Christie and Homes. My frayed nerves...I turn to my husband in the middle of the night and think...ooohhh..maybe he is a killer! To each his own! This was a very lovely write, though. I LOVED how you made it into the form of a letter and gave him a challenge...a duel? Or gunfight?

I like that you like the letter form as well! I don't know where I thought of it, but once I grabbed onto the idea it was super fun to write. This was my second Holmes-inspired poem, actually! Sometime in the future I shall post the first one :)

Everyone is different. I know one person who almost literally can't tell the difference from reality and what's just fiction on the TV. She finds any drama whatsoever in a TV show to be too much to deal with. For me, I realize it's just a story and not something to get worked up over.
