The Nun With Sunshine Hair

On a hot midsummer day, I met a nun with sunshine hair; She moved with grace in every way, Like starlight dancing in the air. I asked if I could have her heart; She laughed, then paused, and gently said: "It's not that we should stay apart, But here I'll dwell until I'm dead." Torn and crushed, I said, "It's fine— Your radiant hair, just let me touch?" Amused, she smiled, "The choice is thine," She led my hand, evoked to clutch. Reached the place, I softly stroked Her hair that shone with solar light. "I'll pluck a strand?" I softly joked. "If it's you, it's alright; just don't take flight." "Sister, do you not wish to love? To cuddle and kiss and deeply care? Have romance blessed by Him above? First one forever, come hear my prayer!" "To flee, I've yearned for countless days— Before-sleep cuddles, passionate kiss, Sweet warm hugs and tender ways... But there's no escape; I was born for this." In silence deep, her eyes revealed A battle raging in her soul, Between the vows that fate had sealed And dreams that yearned to make her whole. The chapel bells began to toll, Their solemn song across the ground, Like chains that bound her very soul To sacred duties, heaven-bound. My hopes but scattered grains of sand; She smiled for last and bid farewell. I clasped her wondrous golden strand— "Could love not break this sacred spell?" "The path I walk was chosen young, Before I knew what love could mean; Now daily prayers must be sung, While memories of what might have been... Sorry, but I must now go," And left me there, in bitter cold; Deep within, its faintest glow, I knew I had nothing to hold. The times flow past like autumn leaves, Yet still I see her golden crown; This heart in darkness softly weeps, For love that wore a sacred gown. So years have passed, I still recall— My life had changed forever then; Together with her sunshine fall, I never saw the nun again. Sometimes at dusk when light grows dim, And evening bells ring soft and clear, I think I catch her silent hymn, Carried on the wind so near... -

How like the forbidden love between a knight and lady of old! That passionate love that is never consummated with the physical but with the Spirit. Sooo romantic! Xo
