The Non-Proposal

This is the story of a clueless man I had to give the “eye” to for a dance! But once he noticed me, the tale began. However, it was not a huge romance! He had no car or money. Both of us were students, broke and working. What a pair! We didn’t even get to take a bus, just talked and walked together everywhere. We talked of everything; I even cooked his meals. He lived next door! There never was a day we weren’t together. It just looked like we’d get hitched. No reason. Just because! No courting; no proposal did I get. In forty years, I haven’t heard one yet!

A beautifully constructed sonnet, though you are teaching me the form, and with your guidance I have even thought of writing one. But enough about me. Enjoy your story here, so close to home, oh that's getting onto me again. Wonderful, entertaining write.

My parents were married for 56 years - until he passed away a few years ago. He never got her an engagement ring. You tell an amusing tale here - I guess these two stories show that formalities are superfluous when there is real love and trust. Hope you like my chapbook! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Sonnet Queen supreme. Did writing this help the hurt any? I didn't know he didn't even propose. My protective nature of my family is coming out right now and would love to give him a kick.

Jenny, you are so funny. Well, you know me. I don't get mad at people and I just accept how they are. you can't get blood from a turnip. haha. And anyway, things are good with me and hubbie, but I love your protective nature!!

Forget that 3rd comment by Mr. Maurice Yvonne...It ain't gonna happen Mo! I knew her first and I ASKED her first! All we're waiting for now is for the attorneys to draw up the papers, so there! Andrea, will you settle this mess? From: A caring, considerate and rather handsome fella named Tim...

Now you have at least one proposal in writing, I believe that is legally biding in 35 of 50 states.

you said something..just talked..my wife and I talk all the time about everything..when deciding something it's her opinion I seek out..what we find sad is when we are out and see another couple that never seem to talk...we'll even talk about that..maybe we talk to much..but I don't think so...loved your poem ..grounded in reality
