The Night
The sun is fading away,
taking on a softer light.
Sky blue, turns to gray,
As the day becomes night.
Twilight with it's dusky hue,
creates the evening shadows.
A veil of mist adds a hazy view,
darkness of night soon follows.
Sounds soften to a hush.
The night is quiet and still.
The day of hurry and rush,
now peaceful and tranquil.
A velvet sky to display,
stars as they appear.
A universe of light, a vivid array.
Without a cloud, so bright and clear.
For those settling in this night,
to drowse and then sleep.
To lie in comfort, until light,
dreams, theirs to keep.
