The Naked Boy

Mama, I hate to wear Big brother's baggy clothes. For neighbors know it well That he looks better in those. Mama, I hate to wear My Father's too-big shoes. I layered all too many socks They still came out too loose Mama, I hate to wear Dear cousin's fancy coat. It always smelled so different Must be their fancy soap. Mama, I hate to wear Uncle's long-legged jeans. I'll never be as tall as him When he was in his teens. Mama, please let me be Though I look so small and thin. Please don't bury me in clothing, I feel right in my own skin
