The Murphys
Pete and Poppy Murphy are empty nesters now
Their three darling spuds are all grown
All sprouted, independent and humble
Out in the big soil now on their own
Their twins Bubble and Squeak are at university
Their oldest son Chip is a carpenter….who owns his own company
They are very proud of their three grown hot spuds
Who are grounded ,versatile, resilient and happy
Since retirement the Murphys have become couch potatoes
Lacking motivation, feeling tired and baked
Their skin has become wrinkled with age spots
Their bodies have bulged, sprouted new limbs that ached
‘We need to get out of this rut we are in Pete’, Poppy said
‘Get some sunshine….. but definitely not get fried’
‘Go out for a drink and perhaps get little smashed’ ,she laughed
‘You wear your jacket Pete’, ‘and you your purple dress ’ Pete replied
‘Perhaps you should catch up with a mate Pete’
‘You haven’t seen Hash Brown in a while’
‘I could spend the day with my lovely French friend….Francine Fries’
‘Later we could get down and a little crispy’ Pete said ….with a cheeky little smile!!
Agreeing it was definitely time to make lifestyle changes
Get motivated, exercise, eat healthy is what they needed to do
Starting tomorrow they both readily decided
So, let’s pop the T.V on now and watch “ Cooking With Taters” on channel two!!
