The Month of May- My Daughter's Tribute

It's my birthday today. My husband is away and my daughter is away. I was in church when I did something naughty and checked my phone (I go to church on Saturdays....the Biblical Sabbath). There was this message from my 18 year old daughter, Shereen. She wrote a poem for me...I just started crying in church, and I'm sure everyone thought I'd lost it at 46. I'm so proud of my daughter. She has a poem published in a book already. She's my life and joy. I thought I'd share with you! The Month of May The clear blue skies, the dancing sun The gentle breeze when day is done The quiet blossoms, their sweet perfume The way they make my spirit bloom Little things that make me say, “Oh how I love the month of May” The burning heat, the birds in flight The way the stars sparkle at night The buzzing bees and calming seas The sound of singing in the trees These little things that make me say “Oh how I love the month of May.” The little things, so dear to me Are not the ONLY things, you see For on the eighteenth day of May Is someone wonderful’s birthday Her jet black hair, her skin so fair The way she smiles makes people stare She’s full of passion, fierce and bold The heart she has? It’s made of gold Her lullabies and big brown eyes How we would laugh until we’d cry Her crazy ways, the good old days When we would blast out songs of praise Her spirit be so wild and free Wind through her hair fills her with glee The way she sings, the joy she brings She’s better than ALL my little May things My MAMA Bear is why I say “Oh how I love the month of May.” Shereen Natalie Ghali May 18, 2013 Yes, I'm a proud Mama Bear!

Its because of Mama Bear that Shereen can connect with all the marvelous things of May, why she smiles in the rain, and sings despite life's stings...you two are wild, sweet and inseperable Eileen...PS., I'm inspired by your replies to my comments! J.A.B.

It's ironic that you and my mom are mama bear and share the same birthday. I so enjoyed reading this one again.

- When a mother tells me that she is proud of her children - I get warm and happy in my heart. - Always be proud of your daughter Eileen. - I am always proud of my daughter as well, she has cerebral palsy, often have to use a wheelchair, house and home, three kids and a dog. - Hope your birthdays, have turned out great anyway. - Have a nice day. - oxox / / Anne-Lise :)

I hope your birthday was a wonderful one, even with your loved ones not being near to share it with you. Shereen surely takes after her mother in her gentle manner and prowess of words. You have much reason to be proud, Eileen. Licia :-)

Thanks, sweet Licia! :) Gentle...we are not! We are both passionate and at times we can be a real enactment of Tom and Jerry! My husband is the laid back..."Girls...let's keep calm" type of man, so it all works out in the end. I am very proud of her accomplishments, but more than that.....of who she is! :) Thanks for the visit. You are a dear!

Happy Birthday, Queen Eileen... Your daughter is so artistic... after listening to her singing so elegantly, there is no wonder her pen rolls just as perfectly!!! Again, Happy Birthday <3

Only the love of a caring mother and daughter could produce such beautiful verse. I'm sure the same sentiment could be used to reciprocate your feelings. Hmmm, Shereen Eileen fits you well.... Jake

I am the worst when it comes to remembering birthdays. For years I called my brother on May the eighth when his birthday fell on the seventh. Finally got it right in the last few years*lol*. I hope you had the best day ever Eileen!

The apple doesn't fall far from the apple tree! What most precious gift a mother would wish to receive than THIS! It is a HYMN to mother, a hymn to gratitude, a hymn to life! If only all parents could receive such a tribune! Wonderful and sincere poem sprung from a pure heart that wants to say: I love you mother and not to impress! Fantastic! H.M!

Thanks, Timothy. She is my life. :) She joined a competition when she was 13 and her poem, The End of Friendship, was published. I bought three of the books it was published in. She could develop her talent more with encouragement. Thanks for stopping by.
