The Mockingbird
I wish I was a mockingbird
perched high up in a tree.
My trills by all would soon be heard;
You’d come away with me.
We’d soar up high above the lands,
way up among the clouds.
Without a care for life’s demands
away from all the crowds.
We’d gather twigs and build our nest
so we could raise our brood.
We’d teach them always be their best,
with mankind not to feud.
I wish I was a mockingbird;
I’d sing my lullaby.
My songs and words would ne’er be blurred;
my rhymes would all apply.
