The Mementos, of My Mother

When our mother passed
Family went through her stuff
Most of what she owned
Went into the garbage
I sorted through the garbage
As I did this I came across
A plain keepsake box

A plain dull keepsake box
Curious I grabbed the box
Opened the box to find
An eighteen carrot gold ring
From that day on I kept
Both the keepsake box
I wear the ring I found
Inside the keepsake box

Darlene~ my Mom kept her wedding dress and veil. I can’t wear that but it’s just lovely. It is in my closet. I have so much of her stuff. I loved her. What a woman. She was kind and giving to all. No holds barred.

I am glad that you have a keepsake like this. I have a jacket of my fathers, a jacket of my mother's, a quilt my mother made me that is hand-stitched for a queen bed, and half of the diamonds from her wedding ring which I had made into a pendant - very beautiful!
