The Magic Carnival Ride
We all sleep as worlds collide
Caught up in elusive dreams
Lost on this carnival ride
Where nothing is as it seems
Now you see it, now you don't
Just like a mad magician
Some that will and some that won't
Swallow this sad tradition
They dangle carrots in our face
The riches that they'll bequeath us
Then they'll play their hidden ace
And pull the rug from beneath us
When we find it was all for naught
And we lie face down on the ground
Still another ticket's bought
As this ride goes round and round
