holding back my tears ... perhaps it’s for the last time I give mum a hug I walk from her room who know’s when we’ll meet again - corona virus At midnight tonight mum’s care home goes into lock down. We do not have the corona virus on our Island but the elderly and vulnerable people have to be protected so it was inevitable they would take these precautions. It’s hard on us both as I try and see mum every day and I’m trying to arrange for skype to be available so I can continue to do memory games with her ... and just so mum knows I am still around. WE NOW HAVE OUR FIRST CASE OF THE VIRUS CONFIRMED 03/20/20

This is so sad, Jan. I do hope they will help all the elderly there with Skype. That is an excellent idea.

Cheer up! According to the Korean News last night, South Korea has just seen the first decline in fatalities and reports that slightly over 90% of the fatalities were people with pre-existing conditions, so it would seem the mantra should be, "Stay fit!" I would not have a clue how to use skype, so your mother is smarter than I am! Good luck! Aloha! Rico

Jan, I am so sorry that you cannot see your Mother. It is for her safety and yours. It is scary right now in the world with covid-19. I hope you can communicate on skype. They showed a clip in the US of a guy sitting outside his Father's nursing home room near the window, his Father looking out and them talking on the phone together. Stay safe during this difficult time. A well penned emotive poem! Hugs

Prayers for you and your mother Jan. I hugged my daughter good bye this week. I may not see my children or grandchildren for months as a precaution. This is the oddest time in my lifetime.
