The Light of Day
Soft green grass under our feet.
Soft cool breeze over our skin.
Soft warm lips tasted so sweet.
What a way for the day to begin.
A small drink of water.
A big sip of wine.
A blushing neighbor's daughter,
I yearned to be mine.
The scent of the flowers.
The smile on her face.
The long languid hours,
We spent in that place.
The shadows that were cast.
The colors that would blend.
The sun as it passed,
Brought the day to an end.
